Installation on the old clunker took 4 hours!!!!  That’s way too much – at the moment I’m not sure what direction I can take this project or if it’s dead in the water.

One direction I could take is make a minimal updated Puppy 3.01 distro with a specialised installer for specific programmes.  With that in mind the ISO should be under 200mbs.  I started working on an installer – it’s being partially used for altering the Wine installation.

Anyway an updated Puppy 3.01 would be an worthwhile extension of this project.  I am getting a little tired of failures – perhaps my expertise is severely lacking.  But like the village idiot I don’t know when to stop flogging the dead horse and will continue regardless

how about making the core much like “Puplite” and have an data cd for add-on .pets and SFS.
the ISO might be smaller than the data cd’s and you can stuff them with apps you know that work.

I like your idea, harii4, and have nearly suggested on the Puppy Forum – for the purpose of attracting and retaining new users away from M$- that extra iso’s be “tiered” according to the user’s experience level. For example – most of what comes ‘standard’ in the “Network” menu for Puppy (ftp servers, wifi scanners, port scanners etc etc) could all be in Tier 3. Haven’t given it much thought though. Hope Martin is listening in nonetheless.
